Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday questioned the previous Aam Aadmi Party government’s much-publicized health model in the national capital, stating that everyone is still searching for the same.

She claimed that while the previous AAP government heavily promoted their health model, the residents of the city continued to suffer due to the lack of proper medical care.

Gupta said, “Our government had to re-plan the health system from scratch to ensure people receive the treatment they deserve.”

The CM questioned why everything had to be started over, claiming that, “not even a single full-time Medical Superintendent (MS) was present in hospitals.”

According to Gupta, one MS was made to manage four different hospitals, while she asked as to why there were no full-time doctors.
She also wondered why nurses were not hired, and what was the reason behind not appointing paramedical staff in Delhi’s hospitals.

CM alleged that the previous regime was only focused on benefiting themselves, while had no concern for the health of Delhi’s people.

As per Gupta’s claims, the previous government could not complete construction of one hospital during its tenure, while their much-hyped Mohalla Clinics failed to provide basic services like first-aid, or a tetanus injection, she remarked.

Further hitting out at the then government, Gupta alleged that due to their failures, Delhi presently lacks even one hospital bed for every 1,000 people. She also raised concerns regarding lack of trauma centers, while claiming that ICU beds are also very less.

The CM alleged that the former regime abandoned 24 hospitals midway, wasting crores of rupees, adding that during COVID-19, they announced the construction of seven ICU hospitals with massive investments, yet none were completed.

Taking a jibe at AAP leaders, Gupta commented on their criticism regarding water-logging, and said, “To those who talk about water-logging, I say thank you. You keep pointing out the issues, tell us where the problems lie, and we will fix them immediately.”

However, she clarified, alleging that the shortcomings were the result of AAP’s 11–12 years of misgovernance.

Meanwhile, CM inaugurated 34 more Ayushman Arogya Mandirs on Thursday at locations including Burari (Takia Chowk), Timarpur (Polyclinic Timarpur), Sadar Bazar (DGD Shahzadabagh), Matia Mahal (Shah Ganj), Karol Bagh (Dev Nagar), Kondli (DGD Mayur Vihar Phase-3), Patparganj (Polyclinic Kalyanvas, Allopathic Dispensary Patparganj), Laxmi Nagar (DGD Bank Enclave), Rajender Nagar (DGD Budh Nagar), Hari Nagar (Maya Puri, DGD Tihar Jail Complex), Badli (DGD Bhalswa Dairy), Rithala (Delhi Govt Polyclinic Sector-4, Rohini), Mundka (DGD Savdha Ghevra), Sultanpur Majra (DGD Sultanpuri), Mangolpuri (DGD Mangolpuri), Wazirpur (DGD Wazirpur), Gandhi Nagar (Polyclinic Kanti Nagar), Shahdara (DGD Mukesh Nagar), Seemapuri (DGD Nand Nagri Extension), Seelampur (DGD Seelampur), Malviya Nagar (DGD Begumpur), Mehrauli (DGD PVR Saket), Ambedkar Nagar (DGD Dakshinpuri), Kalkaji (DGD Kalkaji), Najafgarh (DGD Mundhela Khurd), Bijwasan (DGD Raj Nagar, Dwarka Sec-8), Matiala (DGD Dwarka Sec-19), Nangloi Jat (DGD Jwalapuri), Shakurbasti (Polyclinic Paschim Vihar), Patel Nagar (DGD Prem Nagar), Ghonda-2 (Polyclinic Arvind Nagar, Polyclinic Yamuna Vihar).
